They used to say you were as old
as how many winters you lived.
Back when winters when times of trial and uncertainty.
Back when fear and coldness prevailed.
Back when it was believed the devil would win.
But now I believed you’re as old as
many bad times in your life.
Times when you were disappointed knocked down and barely felt alive.
With only the thoughts of a spring ahead.
